Precision Riding with Bob

" A day of Precision Riding with Bob was great on heaps of levels. Good to ride under clear instruction with Bob timing his guidance well and in language we could all understand. His focus on setting it up and letting the horses find their comfort levels and spaces within the team work reaped big rewards for participants. What began as a ragtag bunch of disparate horses and riders ended with a cohesive flow of movement and rhythm.

My horse started the day bracey, stiff and resistant. By the end of the first session he was coming into softness and with a keen eagerness to work well. Without me having to ask too much of him, he just settled into a place of ease. Working together with other horses seems to relax lots of them and the anxious mares and unsure young horses in the group all made positive changes as the day progressed.

Bob's teaching style worked well and finishing the day by asking the group what we thought was working well, then going into a series of patterns and gaits that let the whole thing come together, left me feeling we had accomplished a lot in a very short time. Plus the group immediately organised another session! Good stuff whatever the discipline or wherever you and your horse are at.

Horsemanship Training with Bob

"I can highly recommend Bobs form of Horsemanship Training, my mare was pushy, spooky, panicky and would run over me when put into a situation with new horses, quite frankly she was scary to ride, but now with Bobs Groundwork/riding Clinic and Precision Riding I have got her respect on the ground and know what to do to shut down her panicky behavior in the saddle, the precision riding has built my relationship with her to a point she hardly looks like the same horse that first met Bob back in January, of course all the blame could not be put on her, I am not to proud to admit that I was petrified when riding her in the group situations of course that only made her worse, but with the close contact of the precision riding and Bobs calm advice I feel quite confident on her now and of course that makes her more relaxed, so it is really enjoyable for both of us and it is just getting better and better.

I was so impressed with Bobs training that I dragged my hubby along to his Clinic in Westport with his Clydesdale and now we are both enjoying the fun and satisfaction of precision riding with a group, so we can both recommend that you get a few people together and do a Clinic with Bob and follow it up with his Precision Riding, do it for yourself but more importantly do it for your horse, they will thank you for it.

"What a great way to spend a weekend, totally committed to our equine partners.

Our club recently organised a Precision Riding Event through Bob Gilkison and it couldn’t have been easier, we provided the venue and Bob stepped up and did all of the advertising locally, we then just waited for the phone to ring or receive an email from people interested in taking part. Everything went without a hitch and both days flowed along real well, with Bob being his very unflappable and patient self, no problem was too big or too small.

What a good way to take part in something different and learn new things about yourself and your horse. Bob made sure that we weren’t overworked and took enough breaks so that horse and human were fed and watered and ready for the next session.

So if you are looking for a bit of a challenge and something different from your daily routine it’s recommended, our club will certainly have Bob back for more sessions."
